This is a very early Geologic piece with deep carving that started to show ledges, form and movement.  There is a connection to the ocean in this piece that moved me forward.  The salt firing was perfect---not always an easy thing to achieve. Bay of Fundy is where my first terra sigillata came from.  I used it as a slip glaze in the salt kiln, and one day as I was trying to rub some glaze off the edge of a small pot, the glaze just started to shine instead of powder off.  It was a "Eureka!" moment.  My exploration and journey of terra sigillata continued on from there.   PIT-FIRED VASE Geometric Series (late mid 1970's) No.304 Bay of Fundy Terra Sigillata Thrown earthenware, etched and carved, stone burnished, smoked in exotic hardwood sawdust.   12 x 8 x 8     $1,400
